Welcome to Gold Flame Diecast, Wilmore, Kentucky’s premier destination for Hot Wheels, Matchbox, and diecast enthusiasts of all ages. Founded by Dalton Cox in August 2023, our small-town store at 311 E. Main Street has quickly become a big hit, drawing collectors and families from across the state and beyond. What started as a side hustle for Dalton—a former NASCAR technician and Nicholasville firefighter—has grown into a thriving business that celebrates the joy of diecast cars and the community that loves them.

At Gold Flame Diecast, we’re more than just a store—we’re a passion project. With over 5,000 model cars packed into our cozy 600-square-foot space, you’ll find everything from Hot Wheels and Matchbox to Johnny Lightning and more. Our shelves are lined with rare finds, new releases, and a bargain bin where unboxed cars go for just $1 each—perfect for kids and collectors on a budget. Dalton’s favorite moment? Seeing a customer’s face light up when they find a car they’ve been hunting for years. “That makes it all worth it,” he says.

Dalton, now 28, lives in Nicholasville with his wife, Emma, and their twin daughters, Lucy and Ruby. His journey from working on real race cars to selling miniature ones has brought unexpected success. Since opening, Gold Flame Diecast has welcomed up to 200 customers a week, with visitors traveling from out of state to experience what FOX 56 News called a “big find in a small town.” Dalton’s vision was bold—some even called it “nuts” to open a specialty diecast store in quiet Wilmore—but he’s proven that niche passions can breathe new life into Main Street.

We’re proud to be part of Wilmore’s charm. From hosting events like the Main Street Motor Show in June to joining the Old-Fashioned Musical Christmas in December, we love bringing people together.
